Enjoy indoor and outdoor activities in Sapporo during the winter, where both adults and children can have fun.


Fu's Snow Area

Located 30 minutes by car from Sapporo city in the Minami Ward, Sapporo City, the Fu's Snow Area is an outdoor sports and recreation facility. This ski resort features six slopes and three pair lifts, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers to enjoy.


Moerenuma Park

Moerenuma Park, located in the Higashi Ward of Sapporo City, was designed by the globally renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi. This comprehensive park offers various winter activities such as sledding and cross-country skiing. You can also rent snowplay equipment at the shop on the first floor of the glass pyramid.

 

Asahiyama Memorial Park

This park was opened in 1970 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sapporo City. It is located adjacent to Mount Moiwa, which is the habitat of brown bears. The night view of Sapporo in winter, seen from the observation deck at an altitude of 137.5 meters, is truly worth a visit.


Sapporo Factory

This place is the birthplace of beer brewing in Japan. The building is divided into seven different areas, allowing for enjoyable shopping regardless of the weather. From 03Nov. to 25Dec., 2023, a massive 15-meter Christmas tree imported from Hiroo-cho in Tokachi is displayed, and at 4 PM, the illumination lights up.


Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo

Held from November 22nd to December 25th. This event began as part of the sister city partnership with Munich, Germany. Booths selling authentic German Christmas cuisine, such as Glühwein (mulled wine), and various Christmas items are set up, creating a festive Christmas atmosphere along West 2nd Avenue in Odori Park.


The 74th Sapporo Snow Festival

The 74th Sapporo Snow Festival will be held from Saturday, February 4th, to Sunday, February 11th, 2024, at the Odori Site, Tsudome Site, and Susukino Site. The main highlight is undoubtedly the five enormous snow sculptures at the Odori Site.


Makomanai Park, which served as the main venue for the 1972 Sapporo Olympics, is bustling with joggers and cross-country skiers during the winter. The park covers 85 hectares of land and still retains about 50,000 natural trees, allowing you to experience the richness of nature in the urban area.


Takino Suzuran Park

This park is the only national park in Hokkaido. Within its 400-hectare area, you can find colorful flower fields, large playgrounds, three waterfalls, and a forest for leisurely walks, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. During the Christmas season, it transforms into Takino Snow World and opens for winter activities. One of its attractions is the thrilling tube sledding, which allows you to slide down the slopes, including the country's largest 200-meter run.


Shiroi Koibito Park

This is the theme park of Ishiya Seika, the maker of the famous Hokkaido confection, Shiroi Koibito. Between November and March, the park is illuminated, creating a fairy-tale-like atmosphere. The illumination typically takes place from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM.


Hitsujigaoka Observation Deck

At the Hitsujigaoka Snow Park, which is famous for the statue of Dr. Clark, you can enjoy various snow activities including skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and cross-country skiing while taking in the panoramic view of Sapporo's cityscape in the distance. There are eight different snow activities to choose from.


Winter living experience at Historical Village of Hokkaido

The Historical Village of Hokkaido, an open-air museum, offers a winter living experience where you can immerse yourself in the winter life from the Meiji era to the early Showa period. You can enjoy traditional snow activities like bamboo skiing and wooden sleds and explore interesting displays of snow removal tools and daily life equipment. Taking a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the retro streets is also highly recommended.
